¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Corporation Named #10 Top 49er in Alaska

(Anchorage, Alaska) – With 2011 revenues at a corporate record $300.49 million, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Corporation jumped four spots to number 10 among the top 49 Alaskan-owned businesses. The announcement was made today at the annual Top 49ers luncheon is co-sponsored by Alaska Business Monthly magazine and the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce. These two organizations rate Alaskan businesses based on gross revenue for 2011.

A banner year for ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, revenue grew nearly $70 million from 2010. At the Top 49ers luncheon last year, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ was ranked at number 14, with revenues of $230.57 million.

¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ continues to fulfill its ANCSA obligations in a variety of ways. Since inception, Shareholder dividends and distributions have totaled more than $17.4 million. Of that amount, more than $1.8 million has been provided in the form of special Elder distributions, which was voted on and approved as an advisory resolution at the 2007 annual meeting of Shareholders. More than 46 percent of these total distributions have taken place in the last two years alone.

¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ is also fulfilling its commitment to educating future leaders, and more than $3.2 million in scholarships has been provided to Shareholders and Descendants since inception. The scholarships from the last two years accounts for more than 20 percent of that total.

Additionally, the number of interns within ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and its families of companies has grown significantly. In 2007, there were two interns but this year 14 interns received valuable on-the-job experience within ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and its subsidiaries.

The second largest of the original 13 Alaska Native corporations, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Corporation was established under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971 and represents over 12,000 Shareholders. The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ region encompasses over 6.5 million acres and includes 56 villages, which are incorporated into 46 individual village corporations. Since inception, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ has provided more than $3.2 million in scholarships to its Shareholders and Descendants and more than $17.4 million in Shareholder dividends and distributions.
